Week before Christmas

Well, we just got our tree today.
We went to a Seabee Christmas Party this past weekend (Sat.)
I was and still am sick. I went to the dinner and we left
right after I stayed in the hotel room. The next morn Bern
went down for breakfast and brought some up to me in the room.

I have been sick since..it is now Wed. Have not done any decorating
or anything:) Just a wreath on the front door...a couple of flowers on the
back door and some in a vase in the foyer.

I need to do Christmas shopping as well. We did something different this
year....we put our wish lists on google docs....everyone can go there for ideas
of what to buy one another...try it:

Buying a Spy Cam to Protect Your Child

Ok, so you have thought about putting in a spy cam to watch your nanny/babysitter or to make sure your child is safe, but perhaps you aren't sure which company to choose.

mySpycam has several pros that will help make your choice easy:
First the price is good. You can get a good quality product from $99 - $500+.
Next, the quality of the lenses in the cameras and DVR's is extremely sound.

Also, the customer service is excellent. There is livechat on the site and of course you can always phone with any questions. Then, if you are not happy for any reason, just send the spy cam back and they will refund your money, no-questions asked guarantee! You can't beat that policy for making you feel good about your purchase.

mySpyCam shipping is through UPS, so you know you will get your product safely and in a timely manner. You can always use the UPS package tracker. (Plus, their shipping is also discrete....they ship in an unmarked boxed!)

They are the only company that provides you with a video tutorial to actually SHOW you how to install your spy cam. Besides, mySpy Cams are very easy to install.

The company takes pride in the products that they carry! The cams are of the best quality. They actually shop around looking for the best quality manufacturers, now that's something that doesn't happen everyday.

The cams can be used wireless (just like your laptop) and also may be seen via the internet. They are very easily obscured (hidden) because they look like everyday items, this means they are very hard to detect, things such as alarm clocks, baby wipes, etc are actually the spy cams.

Now, why would you want to buy a spy cam? Well, first of all just to give you peace of mind. You will not be guessing whether or not your nanny or babysitter is treating your child the way he or she should, you will KNOW!

Are you wondering, though, exactly HOW a spy cam works?
1) you connect the spy cam to a battery or a power supply and hide it.
2) you connect the wireless receiver to a battery or power supply and conect it to a recording device such as the VCR, DVR (digital video recorder) or to your computer if you want to view it from another place that has internet access.
3) and then, you tune the receiver to detect the video that the spy cam is transmitting.

There are two main types: wireless spy cams, and self-contained spy cams (spy cams that have everything you need, including the recording device in one unit.)

As you can see this company has thought of everything to provide you with the best service and the best product you can buy at the best prices!

Here are a few testimonials to read:
“The customer service was outstanding! I couldn’t ask for a better experience!”
- Yolanda R. El Paso, Texas

“I’m an idiot with electronics, but the camera I got was so easy… I just put the battery in and that was it! I can now watch my little girl while I’m at work!”
- Carrie F. Santa Clarita, CA

“I got the alarm clock cam to see if my girlfriend was cheating… she wasn’t! I was just paranoid. It was super easy though and I now use the spy cam to watch my house when I’m away.”

You can get your spy cam from Manny at My Spy Cam (905) 509-2226

Weekend Getaways

Sometimes life is overwhelming.You get sooo busy you can't focus on anything.That means it's time for you to get away from it all.If you haven't tried a weekend/midweek getawayyou should!

Just make sure you don't take your laptop (unless it's part of your relaxation process or you promise to only do FUN, exploratory, surfing type things from which you can learn something new, add something different to your mindset)

Do take along a book you would like to read...one that you are truly interested in.....or one that will open up old rusty pathways and refresh and revitalize them.

Take along a sketchbook or journal...you can start your first novel or sketch the surroundings in a leisurely manner.

This is just a great way to get yourself out of a rut that seems to have insurmountable sides. Once you return and feel refreshed you can look at your problem and come up with solutions you may never have realized if you had remained in the middle of the crisis.Every good manager knows that his charges need to get away to renew their perspectives.

Midweek Getaway

This past week B. and I took a mid week break.

We drove up to Cook Forest and stayed in a place
we haven't been in for quite some time...it is under
new ownership.
We stayed in Suite 2....It sits up in the trees.
It's as if you are staying in a tree house.
We arrived Wed. night and for dinner went to
Vince's Tavern

It was bike night. B. had steak and I had

a beef roast sandwich, both were very good.

We retired back to the suite....I sat on the deck reading
my book. B. sat inside reading his....we both enjoyed the
quiet of the woods outside.

I really like the frame....We then all went to Barnes and Noble and read books...I took Liam to play with the train in the back.
B. and I left and went home....I dropped B. off and went onto supermarket and bought some steak....
Gretchen callled and she came over She brought a very nice card and a strawberry pie from eatnpark.

While the Kids are at Bonnaroo

It's a very lazy rainy day here in western pa
my kids are gone....off at bonnaroo....spent yesterday in
the blue room of the bonnaroo site watching the concerts to
see if i could see the kids in the crowd.
hmmm....
nice not to have to cook,
thurs. we went to buy some paint markers at
micheals and then onto barnes and noble where I got
a cappuccino and b. a coffee.
Friday, b. and I went to rogers...flea market in ohio...

we ate a steak sandwich and fries...ok, i am
off my diet while the kids are gone.
it was sooooooooooooo hot i went without a sun hat
had to buy one.
we bought some tomato plants, and herbs.
then, b. had grandson Sam over to make a shoe shine box
for his dad. while he was doing that i was in the air conditioned bedroom
watching bonnaroo.
then about 10:30 we went to jerry's curb service:

I had a cheeseburger...b. had a dble cheeseburger.

This morn we got up and went to Garrison Days in Beaver

It use to be a fair for Artists but somehow it now only features about

AMomsLove News: Hypermiling

Welcome to AMomsLove News

~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~
Hope you had a happy Mother's Day.
We went out for breakfast ..it was
wonderful... I got to spend lots of
time with one of my grandsons... he drew
a very cute purse for me with a lovely
inscription inside...the other
I saw the next day and received a photo collage.
Both were wonderful gifts.
This issue, I want to talk about Hyper-miling.
We have to deal with the
gas prices as we plan our vacations and also
learn some new ways to save on the gas we use
everyday.
Even if you don't own a hybrid, you can save on
gas mileage by laying off the brake (carefully).
Stepping on the brake every chance you get can waste
a lot of fuel.
Pay attention and see if you tend to
brake unecessarily. Remember, we want to use common sense
here...braking is important, but you may be a nervous braker.
Try to avoid turning on that air conditioner as much as
possible. You can turn off the AC going uphills..I am sure you
have noticed the drag you get...that means you are using more fuel.
Lower you speed: Optimum speed for cars and LIGHT trucks is 55-60mph.
This technique is well know to save fuel and lives. There is some
controversy. ..do your own tests...do you get better mileage doing 55
on a trip or perhaps 62-68?
Read about it here:
http://www.cleanmpg.com/forums/ showthread. php?t=10986
Try to time stop lights....lower your speed going into
a red light so you have a chance of catching it green..
although, you definitely still want to proceed cautiously
through the intersection!
Avoid left turns....Go around the block instead..you can end
up getting there quicker, rather than sitting at that stop light
trying to make a left hand turn.
Some hypermilers park near slopes so they can use gravity to
get their cars going rather than gas...just remember the time
you were so low on gas, you used coasting techniques.. .but, please
be safe...you don't want people to run into you from behind!
I hope some of these ideas help you save fuel....if possible, get
out the bike..but that's a whole other newsletter.
Happy St. Patricks Day,,,It's Been a Rough Night
Hope you ladies had a nice St. Paddy's Day..
B. and I are each sitting in our chairs...he in his recliner,I on the couch with laptop on my lap:)
Last night I was sitting on the couch, watching a fabulous and I mean delicious production, John Adams on HBO.
I had just finished making and cleaning up a Shepherd's Pie.(Fried some onions, thin round steak cut up into bite size pieces,cut some baby carrots in half, browned it all nicely in the meantime, cut up some potatoes and boiled them away
(on last fm If youre goin to the North Country http://www.bobdylan.com/songs/girlnorth.html See for me that her hairs hangin long for thats the way remember her best...Bob Dylan..this is the songi think that epitomizes Dylan) Go watch on You tube
throw some petite green beans mix a little flour and water and mix. Pour all into 9x12 pan ....mash potatoes and spread over top and bake a half an hour.YUM>
anyway, just settled down to watch John Adams You must watch this...the snake, don't tread on me is retelling and yet something of a foretelling for our countty...just plain good acting.
I started to get a pain in the middle of my chest, thought, hmm, maybe this is an ulcer???or indigestion and then I remembered all those articles I have read about womens symptoms for heart attacks..kept monitoring the pain and finally told B. let's go to the hospital.
We arrived there around 9:15, they took me right back , my b.p. was high, ended up keeping me overnight and this morn did a stress test and some nuclear test..echo cardiogram..one before and one after .it was not my heart
...nonethless I left home last nite at 9 and did not get home until 3:30 this afternoon.Yikes!Happy St. Patricks Day. I won't go to work tom. either, I have to take Bernie to get his shoulder operated ongot to find a good book.
Mom-Child Activity
Take a Walk with your Child
Well, here in Pittsburgh it is raining.
But, maybe where you are it's a nice day.
Go for a walk with your child.
Find a local park and point out
the birds, some ducks, the plants.
Talk about what you did as a kid.
If it is raining, then, go for a walk in the
mall. Put your child on a riding horse or car
in the middle of the mall or the train for Easter.
Go have some ice cream and see the pets in the
local pet store.
Today: Share lots of hugs with your child.
Keep your kids healthy...hug them
What would you do if you could
Anything is possible:
I know what i would do...I would be in top physical shape...having trained for a year and summit Mt. Everest.
Then, I would be on my way to Colorado and do some skiing...taking my girls with me.
And then retire to the cabin that I have bought there and sit in front of a nice fire my hubby made and begin to write my book on Everest.
Pittsburgh Film Maker in Now Festival on My Space
Pittsburgh Film Maker In Now Festival on My Space
Lucas McNelly's "gravida" creates a somber yet hopeful mood in a matter of twenty-two minutes with a little music, cinematography and soulful, expressive faces.
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) February 19, 2008 -- Lucas McNelly was born in Maine, came to the Pittsburgh area to attend Geneva College from which he graduated in Broadcasting. He flirted with the idea of sportscasting, but McNelly found his anchor in directing with a short film for a college senior film festival.
He then went to Tennessee for a couple years studying and writing about film. After moving back to Pittsburgh, McNelly starting teaching himself the practical side of film making and film history.
He has done everything from a French Film about coffee to two documentaries: one on moose hunting and the other on civil rights.
"gravida" evolved from an idea that a beautiful photograph could come from a moment that is anything but. The protagonist (Rachel Shaw), McNelly knew, needed to be a talented actress with the looks of a model. Shaw, however turned out to pregnant, so, after consulting with her, McNelly realized that the story would prove to be more interesting if the protagonist was a pregnant woman.
Adam Kukic, plays the guy in the film. He is a Pittsburgh theatre director and actor who shares McNelly's artistic sensibilities. Kukic shot "gravida" during the tech week of a production of his theatre company, Thank You Felix.
McNelly's blog, "100 Films" has caught the eye of Hollywood. It started out as a regular day to day diatribe, but evolved into a review of, first, classic cinema, then micro budgeted independent film.
Critical response for "gravida" has been positive. Paul Clark called it "a serenely confident short film" and a "small film in the best sense, one that's exactly the right size for the story it tells." Cinema Styles called it "a film of understated elegance and thoughtfulness." TalkingMoviezzz.com called it an "excellent short film" that "almost works as a silent film, as the visuals are so strong."
The Now Film Festival is hosted by NOW Casting, the premiere leader in bringing talent to top studios, major agencies, and independent filmmakers. Currently in its third year, the Now Film Festival has seen previous finalists land distribution deals and awards ranging all the way to an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short.
"gravida" is one of 25 semi-finalists for this year's Now Film Festival. The semi-finalists screen on My Space Film and You Tube, one per week for 25 weeks. At the conclusion of the 25 weeks, the general public will vote with the finalists screening at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences in Hollywood, California and competing for a high-def camera package.
Voting is currently scheduled to end in the middle of April.
People can vote at Now Film Festival. "gravida" can be viewed on My Space TV and You Tube or at the Official "gravida" web page.
Gravida is now On MySpace
Please go vote on My Space for a local Pittsburgh film maker,
Lucas McNelly..author of blog 100 Films
and local actors, Adam Kukik and Rachel Shaw.
A study in loneliness.
"an excellent short film. Beautifully photographed with a terrific lead performance by Rachel Shaw...the film effectively creates a very somber tone that it is able to sustain throughout. It almost works as a silent film, as the visuals are so strong." -- TalkingMoviezzz.com
Five Budget Gift Ideas for Valentines
Many people love to say that Valentine's Day
is becoming too commercial, and claim that it is just another way for card and gift shops to make money. Personally, I feel it is lovely to have just one day out of 365 where people in love are reminded to celebrate one another and the special relationship they have. After all, I think it can get to the point where we begin to take each other for granted.
There are so many little things that can make someone's Valentine's Day. You don't have to spend a fortune on Valentines gifts, even if you have the money. It's more about the token of love and the thought that has gone into it, that makes a gift truly appreciated. The fact you can do so much, even if you have no money is what's so beautiful about Valentine's Day.
So here are a few gift ideas to inspire you to make Valentine's Day a special one.
Making an effort
For starters, the simple idea of a Valentine's Day card is always guaranteed to bring a smile to your partners face on Valentine's Day morning. It needn't be big or flashy, it doesn't even have to be shop bought. What can make a token of affection into something truly special is making it unique. Why not make the card yourself? Just some coloured card, a pen and a little imagination is all it takes. It could be as simple as a drawing of a heart with both your name inside, or maybe glueing a favourite picture of the two of you onto it, which can then be framed for posterity.
If you find you don't have time to make your own card, why not try and compose a little poem or message during your commute to work, or during lunch, which you can write inside your shop bought one. The gift idea is the same - it just needs a little thought and effort.
Cook a romantic meal for 2
Can't afford a meal out in a fancy restaurant? Then why not treat your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife to a night off and cook a meal for them instead? It can be just as romantic as a restaurant meal - if not more so. Think of your partners favourite foods and drink and spend a few hours preparing a delicious meal. Think delicious, sexy food such as oysters or scallops for starters, a creamy pasta dish for main and chocolate or strawberries for pudding. Top it off with a bottle of bubbly, flowers on the table and a lit candle in a bottle and bob's your uncle. Even if the meal doesn't come out perfect, the fact you put so much thought into the gesture will make all the difference. It's an ideal way to celebrate if you cannot get a babysitter either.
Enjoy a night in and be pampered
This year, Valentine's Day happens to be on a Thursday - a very unromantic weekday. Many people will be at work during the day and it can be hard to find time for one another. With our busy lifestyle, it can be hard to get a chance to spend quality time together, just the two of you. So instead of thinking about making a day of it, how about making a night of it? Get prepared to enjoy a magical Valentine's night together. After a hard day at work, what better than a luxurious soak in a hot bubble bath? Light a few candles or get some floating spa lights, some soft music to relax too and help get you in the mood for a nice bathe together. Massage each others aching spots with some perfumed oil, whisper sweet nothings to one another and enjoy your time together.
I.O.U. tokens
A simple but effective idea that works a treat and costs you nothing at all. Simply write an I.O.U on a piece of paper or card offering to do something for your partner at anytime. It could be as romantic, sexy or simple as you like. Some examples are: I.O.U 1 massage, I.O.U the next choice what we watch on TV or I.O.U a washing up session. Alternatively you could suggest a night out for example I.O.U a visit to the cinema. This something cheap and cheerful, but it'll take you back to the days when you first started dating and holding hands. The only limitation with this Valentine gift idea is your imagination!
Games for two
Spending time together is crucial to your relationship together, and that is why I think Valentine's Day is an opportunity to bring couples closer together. How often do we get to spend time and do little things like play games or spend 2 hours exploring each others bodies and indulging in our pleasure zones. You can make up your own game, massage one another or get an adult game such as Nookii which costs under £25. The great thing is this game doesn't just last for the night, but for a lifetime, as you can use it over and over again. These games can be as fun, adventurous or sensuous as you wish. The key thing is to both enjoy it.
Hopefully these gift ideas have inspired everyone to have a fabulous Valentine's Day this year and in years to come.
